Even though Google is giving up to $10,000 a month to non-profits for free advertising, most non-profits, faced with competitive keywords and limited means of implementing an Adwords strategy, let their grant money languish. There are numerous stipulations which Google imposes on non-profits which will make it harder to launch an effective campaign.
• Your ads must link to a page on your website and the keywords you target must be relevant to your programs and services. A-B testing is much harder given you have only your one and only domain to work with.
• Your website cannot display revenue generating ads, such as Google AdSense or affiliate advertising links (including Amazon), while participating in Google Grants.
• Your ads will not appear on the content network, only on google.com.
• Your maximum bid per click will be capped at $1.00. Also, the usual practice of increasing bids is disabled.
So what is a non-profit to do? This is where we can help. We are currently accepting non-profits who have no web presence as of yet. We can design your site to take advantage of the two main factors that are not oft understood by those in the Google Grants program: quality score and long-tail keyword research. We will draft a plan that increases the likelihood of your ad being served to a sympathetic audience, and use a thorough ad to landing page solicitation strategy to prevent Google from rejecting your ads. There is no upfront charge for this service – we only take a percentage of the funds we bring in. Please contact us using the form below for a consultation.

* US Organizations must have current 501(c)(3) status, while UK organizations must be registered with the Charity Commission. Other country’s eligibility requirements vary.

This is a simple trick that works especially well for those promoting affiliate products. If you could have your affiliate URLs look like yourdomain.com/go/get-it-here instead of that long affiliate URL, you’re going to get more clickthroughs. Longer URLs with strange subids tacked onto them don’t inspire trust so the simpler you can make your link the better. Better than a service like tinyurl.com (which is hosted on someone else’s server), GoCodes will let you create shortcut URLs to anywhere on the internet right from your Wordpress Admin Panel. Go Codes for Wordpress.
